Portrait de Mireille Alary

A notary since 1990, Mireille Alary focuses her practice primarily on real estate law, with recognized expertise in agricultural law. After graduating summa cum laude with a degree in notarial law from the University of Ottawa in June 1990, she has spent more than 35 years advising clients—including individuals, businesses, agricultural producers, financial institutions, and public agencies—on real estate transactions and complex legal matters.

A partner at the law firm Gagné Isabelle since 2001, Ms. Alary has developed cutting-edge expertise in the protection of agricultural land, real estate transactions in agricultural areas—including the purchase of farmland by non-residents—municipal law, and the conservation of natural environments. She regularly handles cases requiring an in-depth analysis of applicable laws and regulations, as well as the coordination of numerous stakeholders.

Her experience is particularly recognized in cases involving the Commission for the Protection of Agricultural Land in Quebec (CPTAQ), the acquisition and financing of agricultural properties, and development projects presenting specific legal challenges.

A frequent speaker on topics related to agricultural and real estate law, Ms. Alary is regularly called upon to share her expertise with professionals and organizations. In particular, she participated in the work of a parliamentary commission on the evolution of legislation regarding the protection of agricultural land and also serves as an expert witness for the Superior Court of Quebec.

Renowned for her thoroughness, availability, and personable approach, Ms. Alary places equal importance on day-to-day matters as she does on the most complex cases. She believes that every client deserves clear legal advice tailored to their specific circumstances and goals, whether it involves a residential purchase, an agricultural project, or a matter requiring specialized expertise.

For nearly thirty years, she has divided her practice between the Gatineau and Shawville offices. Very active in the Pontiac region, she is proud to support families, farmers, entrepreneurs, and municipalities there, both with their day-to-day legal needs and in connection with more complex projects. This community-focused approach, which she has maintained since the beginning of her career, deepens her understanding of the human and economic realities underlying each of her cases.

Over the years, this solid general practice has enabled her to develop recognized expertise in agricultural and real estate law. Today, she is called upon to handle specialized cases from all over Quebec, while remaining deeply committed to her local clients. She remains convinced that the best expertise is that which makes itself accessible.

As a mother of four, Ms. Alary has always balanced her professional and family life. When she’s not at the office, she enjoys hiking, exploring new destinations, and spending time reading.
